Riptide

Mise-en-scene: Blue sky with a credit block at the bottom.
Camera: Long shot, panning.
Lighting: High Key Lighting.
Meaning/representation: The bright blue sky represents hope or happiness, as well as freedom and dreaming. The clear sky also shows the audience that it is summer as there is good, sunny weather.

Mise-en-scene: A girl, presumably at the dentist with equipment in her mouth, looking worried.
Camera: Close up.
Lighting: The lighting is low key, but changes from bright to dark within this shot.
Meaning/Representation: The change in lighting adds to the feeling of instability that she experiences at the dentist. Also, the equipment in her mouth represents the control in her life. Her eyes are wide and keep darting around which tells the audience she looks worried.

Mise-en-scene: A dimmed light shining back and forth in a darkened room with shadows.
Camera: Close up.
Lighting: Low key lighting, dark.
Meaning/representation: The fact that the light is swimming back and forth creates a sense of entrapment, like a bright light (person), trying to escape a dark and depressing life.

Mise-en-scene: A girl at a beach taking off a yellow swimming costume.
Camera: A mid shot.
Lighting: Natural lighting.
Meaning/representation: She could be taking off her swimming costume to represent her trying to step out of her old life. She could be trying to step out of a version of herself that she doesn't like. The sea represents the bright, new life she could be part of with freedom.

Mise-en-scene: A red book ('techniques of photographing girls') is pushed onto a clear back ground by a woman hands with white fingernails.
Camera: Close up.
Lighting: High key.
Meaning/representation: The fact that she needs to read a book about it reveals that she is inexperienced. Also, the colour of her nails (white) symbolises purity, which adds to the idea that she is inexperienced.

Mise-en-scene: The so-called 'friends' a man and a woman, talking in front of a building, but the girl is facing away from the camera.
Camera: Close up and taken from a low angle.
Lighting: High key, natural bright lighting.
Meaning/representation:

Mise-en-scene: An american dollar bill on a blue fabric background.
Camera: Close up.
Lighting: High key lighting.
Meaning/representation: 'All my friends are turning green' shows that their friends are choosing to be materialistic, and choosing stuff over what actually matters, they're morally incorrect as money is the root of all evil. The fact that thee is blue fabric behind the money emphasises the materialistic reference in this shot.

Mise-en-scene: A card trick is done on the background of a blue sky and then the shot cuts to a scene of a woman waking her arms round.
Camera: Close up shot from a low angle.
Lighting: High key/natural lighting.
Meaning/representation: The scene of the woman appears on the word 'dream' which is linked to magic and creativity. Its like she's in a trance. The camera is shot from an angel below, giving the woman power. Also, she could have her arms in the air to try and summon something/someone, or to show that she is the greatest, and is powerful. This is a reference to a scene in the wicker man as the clothing and posing are similar, symbolising power.

Mise-en-scene: A woman looking frightened in a forest holding a naked flame, she then looks around, throws something to two other people, and disappears.
Camera: Close up, tracking/panning.
Lighting: Low key, dark.
Meaning/representation: She looks worried, maybe because she is alone or something bad is going to happen to her. This is a reference to the Wickerman film during the hunt scene. Also, the fact that she's not holding a modern flashlight creates a sense of the wild. There is a sense of mystery created when the woman disappeared as well.

Mise-en-scene: A woman is tied to a tree, but breaks away and then runs away.
Camera: Eye level shot.
Lighting: Natural lighting.
Meaning/representation: This could be a reference to the common representation of women as damsels in distress in the media. However, she is able to get free by herself. The fact that she is desperate to get free and run away shows she wants to escape something, maybe the person she has become or a situation she's in, or the way women are presented in the media. She is strong and independent, not having to rely on any man to help her.

Mise-en-scene: A clip of a riptide in the ocean, looking angry.
Camera: Birds eye view level.
Lighting: Natural, stormy.
Meaning/representation: A riptide is a fast moving current, which creates a sense of danger.

Mise-en-scene: A woman opens her mouth to scream as she is dragged away into the mysterious darkness whilst lying on her bed,.
