Statement of aims- media coursework
How and why I will use media language:
Media language includes colours used, lighting, angles, mise en scene, shots, images, people used.
Mise en scene includes make up and fashion, so I will style Neve to appeal to a middle aged audience, e.g more covered and with natural make up and pastel colours.
I want to use mostly bright light to portray clear images with a range of camera angles including close ups, far aways, and high angles.
I will use images of fashion items and niche places to travel.

How and why I will construct representations of individuals, groups, events etc:

How I will target the intended audience:
Explorer- find a new, niche product o promote, maybe a health care product, a new secret place for a holiday destination or a new fashion trend.
Age group- has to appealing to mums, look for an easier life.

 How the production will stay relevant to the industry context:
It is for an independent magazine, so i will use features that you would usually find in that genre of a magazine, for example the layout, colour tones, articles featured.
How the media demonstrates digital convergence:
This refers to the online audience and features of a magazine. Currently, I am focusing on the audio visual aspect of the magazine by doing a 2 minute radio clip, so the online aspect does not apply to me.

Magazine Cover  The masthead suggests that this is an independent magazine that differs from the usual magazines that are aimed at women. The masthead is simplistic and takes up are larger section of the page than a stereotypical magazine aimed at women. In addition to this, the image is also simplistic, featuring a female fighter, which isn't what you would usually see on a magazine cover. This shows the magazine is gong against gender norms. There is only one story featured, reinforcing that it is a serious magazine that tackles global issues. The colour tones are minimalist and basic, made up of neutral tones like black, brown, green and blue. This shows the magazine focuses on social change as the colour scheme differs from other magazines aimed at women, which tend to be brighter. Womans realm analysis

Applying the theories/connotations/denotations The woman featured is presented to be a shy person, which is portrayed through how she is posing with her hand across her face, smiling at the camera. She is fully covered in clothing, and we can only see the top half of her body, which keeps in with the ideology that a woman in the sixties needs to be pure, not provocative. This magazine was produced at a time of a patriarchal society, so produces an ideology where women were expected to be nothing more than housewives, from the perspective of a man. The words featured are all associated with being a good housewife, as women were meant to look after their husbands and children. Their husbands were the dominant figures as women had little financial or sexual independence.
